Rocky Mountain Food Tours

Too-good-to-be-true chocolates, luxurious baked goods, fried to perfection donuts, and more — Colorado Springs has it all!

Here at Rocky Mountain Food Tours, there’s nothing quite like the holidays to get us craving some sweet treats! From buttery baked goods to healthy sweets, and of course, the creamiest of ice creams, Colorado Springs is full of delicious dessert options!

Can’t decide where to satisfy your sweet tooth next? Check out our top seven favorite spots here in Colorado Springs! Without further ado, in no particular order:

1. Decadent – A Coffee and Dessert Bar

If you have sweet tooth with a taste for fine desserts, Decadent is the place to be! This fast-casual coffee and dessert bar is the first of its kind in Colorado Springs — offering luxurious desserts, each made from scratch with high-quality ingredients. With each bite, they live up to their promise to provide “the most amazingly sinful dessert combinations.” Pair a cup of hot coffee with a mouth-watering cookie skillet, a slice of cake, or your pick from their “sweet treat” menu including items like crème brûlée, cupcakes, sticky buns, and beyond!

2. Dessert Board from Plated Picnics

Indulge your sweet tooth in style with Plated Picnics’ luxury dessert picnic. This beautifully designed charcuterie style picnic offering is perfect for a special event like an engagement, birthday, or shower. Not only does each picnic include sweet treats paired with dipping chocolates and peanut butter, but Plated Picnic will create an entire experience for you — from rugs, to pillows, to memorable decor items and place settings. You can even decide where you want your picnic, whether it be your backyard, your favorite public park, or your very own cozy living room!

3. Amy’s Donuts

You can’t write a blog about dessert and not include the most important meal of the day! Amy’s Donuts is beloved by locals here in Colorado Springs, frying up new favorites Blueberry Old Fashion, Chocolate Coconut Yeast, and Cotton Candy. You can, of course, grab a single donut (if you have self-control) but we recommend filling a box — because how can you not?

4. Radiantly Raw [permanently closed]

Feeling healthy? Radiantly Raw is the perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth and your diet! Radiantly Raw’s chocolate is free from all of the added dairy, sugar, and fillers you will find in typical chocolates. Their base chocolate is made only of three simple ingredients — cacao, coconut oil, and honey — with their flavors and fillings all derived naturally. Their gourmet chocolates come in lovely flavors like Coconut Cherry White Chocolate Truffle, Orange Cranberry Pistachio Truffle, and Raspberry Rose. The best part? These chocolates aren’t just “not bad” for you, they actually have incredible health benefits, like reducing inflammation, improving thyroid function, boosting your metabolism, and more!

5. Boonzaaijer’s Dutch Bakery

Boonzaaijer’s Dutch Bakery is a haven of traditional baked goods, pastries, specialty desserts, breads, and cakes. This mom and pop shop was started by a fourth-generation baker who once worked at Colorado Springs’ famous Broadmoor Hotel and has been providing amazing treats to locals and visitors alike since the late 90s. Our favorite picks from their extensive dessert menu include the Black Forest Roulade, the Apple Strudel, and their Carrot Cake.

6. Josh & Johns

If you’re a true dessert lover, there’s never a bad time (or temperature) for ice cream! Josh & Johns is a Colorado Springs’ staple and has been serving up slow-churned ice cream since 1986. Their exceptionally creamy and rich ice cream has been churned in turn of the century rock salt and ice freezers. Fill one of their homemade waffle cones with a scoop (or two, or three) of their traditional or Colorado-themed flavors, like Rocky Mountain Road, Colorado Cookies and Cream, and Purple Mountain Majesty.

Inside Tip: We feature Purple Mountain Majesty, a lovely taro root ice cream with luscious raspberry dark chocolate truffles, on our popular Original Colorado Springs Food Tour occurring weekly, year-round!

7. Frozen Gold

If soft-serve is your jam, you’ll find yourself at home at Frozen Gold! This trendy South Tejon joint is serving up ice cream in the most unique fashion — enjoy flavors crafted with unsuspecting ingredients like Cheetos, Pop Rocks, and potato chips. Frozen Gold shares the block with some other vibrant spots, like Dos Santos, Atomic Cowboy, CO.A.T.I and Cork and Cask, making it the perfect “night-cap” stop after an evening of eating and drinking on the town!

Now that your mouth is watering, it’s time to go treat yourself! Be sure to tag us in your next culinary adventure and tell us where you went!

Cheers! Your Rocky Mountain Food Tours Team
