Drop by Denver and you’ll see it’s full of active people. How do they keep their energy levels up?

Through a steady drip of caffeine!  There’s a cafe around every corner, each with their own twist. Here’s the top nine coffee shops in Denver and a little about what each one has to offer:

1. City Donuts

Are you in the mood for a simple donut ring paired with an affordable cup of joe? City Donuts has three locations around the Denver area. They pride themselves in offering traditional donuts with a twist, such as the seasonal Vanilla Frosted with Cinnamon Crumb. You can get a wide variety of coffees and cappuccinos here, perfect for dunking your donut into. If you want something more filling, they also offer sandwiches and gyros.

2. Crema Coffee House

Coffee and free-flowing conversation are both on tap at Crema Coffee House! Crema was consciously designed to build connections between people. It has an open floor plan, a congenial atmosphere, and a fantastic outdoor seating area. This makes it a perfect place for both first dates and making new friends. What about the coffee? Try the House Special Espresso, which is known throughout Denver for its smooth, rich flavor.

3. Doppio Coffee

Doppio offers a cozy, classic coffee shop experience. Come here for brightly lit interiors, rich wood accents, and plenty of plants to freshen up the place. This coffee shop carries both classic drinks as well as cold brew coffee, matcha lattes, and a selection of teas. For a snack with your beverage, try their hunger-beating, generously sized almond butter toast.

4. The Molecule Effect

Not all coffee shops stick to just one beverage. In Denver’s Art District, The Molecule Effect offers more creative drinks. Here you’ll find everything from Bulletproof Coffee to Kombucha to a full wine, beer, and cocktail menu. While there, adventurous coffee lovers can try an Espresso Martini or their signature drink, the Art DeCo. Pair your beverage with something from their menu that reflects local flavors, such as a Sausage, Egg, and Green Chili Panini.

5. Tokyo Premium Bakery

Denver is an amazing multicultural town. You can get a taste of that at the Tokyo Premium Bakery. This is a great place to experience a Japanese take on coffees and pastry. The Tokyo Premium Bakery sells delightfully light and fragrant drinks like Matcha Lattes and Hojicha. Don’t leave this shop without nibbling on a Japanese pastry such as their fan favorite Red Bean Filled Buns or traditional Melon Buns.

6. Denver Cat Company

What could be better than drinking a mug of hot coffee and then petting a warm cat on your lap? This cat cafe is home to a number of friendly rescued felines. After you sample their excellent, affordable brews, you can make some new furry friends. They’ll amble around, looking for a lap to perch on. This may be Denver’s most adorable way to spend an afternoon!

7. Aviano Coffee

This charming little coffee shop packs a lot of flavor into every cup of joe. The location is cozy and loaded with personality. What has kept Aviano Coffee in business for years, despite competition? Locals come for expertly brewed drinks. This includes unforgettable macchiatos, an espresso made with Intelligentsia beans, and simple black coffees rich in flavor. This is a small venue so expect a line during busy hours.

8. Weathervane Cafe

This cafe stands out from the rest for a unique atmosphere and long history in Denver. The original building was constructed in 1896! While sipping coffee, you can take in artwork and antique lamps from bygone eras. For beverages, the Weather Vane offers a lot of options. Our coffee recommendations are their 24 Hour Cold Brew or, for the adventurous, the Dandy Blend Latte. This caffeine-free beverage is made from dandelions and barley.

9. Corvus Coffee Roasters

Do you prefer to brew your coffee at home? Come by this coffee shop for top notch ingredients and a bit of entertainment, too. You can actually watch your choice of beans being roasted and ground to perfection here. Corvus Coffee Roasters offers a wide selection of coffee beans from around the world. If you’re feeling dazzled by the variety on hand, you can always ask the knowledgeable staff for a recommendation.
