Want to get creative this Valentine’s Day? There are plenty of unique ways to celebrate with your special someone in Colorado Springs!

Valentine’s Day falls on a Monday this year, which means that you can easily celebrate the weekend before or after! If you’re planning on celebrating Valentine’s Day in Colorado Springs, there are plenty of options for romantic restaurants, if you’re going the traditional route. But there are a lot of other creative ways to celebrate!

This Valentine’s Day, opt for something more memorable and unique! Here are nine creative alternatives for this year’s Valentine’s Day in Colorado Springs:

1. Relax in Cedar Tub at the Base of Pikes Peak

Just a short drive west from Colorado Springs lies Manitou Springs, one of the most idyllic mountain towns, filled with quaint shops, scenic hikes, and stone water fountains flowing with fresh mineral water. SunWater Spa sits tucked away just minutes from the bustling Manitou Avenue. If you’re looking for a romantic and relaxing date, look no further. Book a couples’ massage (called an Ātma Duet Massage) and then sit in one of SunWater Spa’s cedar pools as you look out on Downtown Manitou Springs and watch the sunset over Pikes Peak.

2. Toast to Your Love on a Food Tour in Downtown Colorado Springs

February 10-13 and February 17-20 from 2:00-5:00pm

Avoid the stress of making your own restaurant reservations this Valentine’s Day by booking a food tour with Rocky Mountain Food Tours (that’s us!). We have tours every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday that feature some of the tastiest local restaurants, speakeasies, artisan food shops, and hole-in-the-walls in Downtown Colorado Springs. In just a few hours, you’ll experience up to five culinary destinations with the help of a local tour guide. Tickets start at only $65, and you can upgrade to include three different pairings of wine, cocktail, or beer. View the calendar or read more about this fun walking tour

3. Take a Romantic Hike Hand-in-Hand

This option is perfect if you’re a nature lover or are working on a budget. Colorado Springs has some of the best hikes and scenic walking routes located just minutes from downtown, including Red Rock Canyon Open Space, Garden of the Gods, Seven Bridges, and Fox Run Regional Park. We love the list that VisitCOS put together with the top 25 hiking and biking trails in Colorado Springs.

If you and your date are really adventurous and up for a challenge (warning, they aren’t for the faint of heart!), try hiking Red Mountain, The Manitou Incline, or Section 16.

4. Marvel at a Work of Art Together at a Local Gallery

February 4-25

Do you and your love dig local art? Head to G44 Gallery (south location) for Chelsea Boucher’s newest abstract exhibit called “in studio: love letters to the muse.” Rather than forcing her own message or meaning, the artist invites each individual to interpret what each piece means to him or her in a sort of “choose your own adventure” presentation. Plan to visit the gallery during their regular open hours, which are Wednesday through Saturday from 12pm to 5pm, or during First Friday on February 4 from 5pm to 9pm.

5. Figure Out “Who Done It” at an Interactive Comedy Murder Mystery Dinner Show

Look for clues to figure out who committed the crime – just be ready, it could be your or your significant other! The Dinner Detective events are held at the Great Wolf Lodge in north Colorado Springs, and tickets start at $69.95. Get tickets or find out future dates!

This on-foot experience features an insider’s look at local craft beer in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. You’ll enjoy a flight of beer at each brewery, plus a ton of delicious food throughout. Your expert tour guide will share about the brewing process as well as some fun facts about Colorado Springs. The Springs Craft Brewery Tour runs every Saturday! (Tip: If you don’t like beer or have a gluten sensitivity or allergy, let us know -we can provide substitutes!)

7. Whisper Sweet Nothings to Each Other During a Night of Poetry and Romance

Cherokee Ranch & Castle

Thursday, February 10 – 6:00pm

The Cherokee Ranch & Castle sits in the picturesque wooded hills of Sedalia, Colorado and hosts regular events throughout the year. For Valentine’s Day this year, they are offering a unique night of poetry reading. “Imagine Peace” will feature two authors – Chet Sisk and Aleta Antoinette – who will lead you through an evening of “imagining peace, love, and kindness.” Tickets cost $40 per person and include a dessert buffet and meet and greet with the authors. But your tickets here. (Note: the castle is also hosting a Valentine’s Day Tea on February 13 and 14!)

8. Enjoy a Professional Broadway Show in Downtown Colorado Springs

Tuesday, February 16 and Wednesday, February 16 – 7:30pm

You’ll be singing “Matchmaker, Matchmaker made me a match!” (that is, unless your match is sitting right next to you!) at The Pikes Peak Center’s Broadway performance of Fiddler on the Roof. For two nights only, this professional production will inspire you with this heartwarming and timeless story. Book the pre-show dinner and have the whole night planned in advance!

9. Indulge in a Cocktail and Chocolate Pairing at the Lee Spirits Tasting Room in Monument

Treat your special someone to a decadent cocktail and chocolate class for Valentine’s Day. Lee Spirits and Cacao Chemistry are teaming up for a delightful class featuring four unique half-sized cocktails each paired with a different chocolate. Their expert mixologists will give you tips on what flavors make the best pairings. Cocktails and chocolate…what could be better for Valentine’s Day?

Whether you’re trying to avoid the crowds or you’re looking to mix things up, any of these ideas will be sure to make this year’s Valentine’s Day a memorable one! And if you’re not able to hop on a food tour this time, it’s never too late. We offer public and private food tours all year round!
