Updated for 2026
From nationally recognized burger joints to hidden local gems, here's where to sink your teeth into the best burgers in Downtown Colorado Springs.
There's something timeless about a great burger. Whether you crave a classic cheeseburger, an over-the-top bacon creation, or a Colorado bison burger, Colorado Springs delivers plenty of delicious options.
As locals who've spent years exploring the city's restaurant scene (and leading thousands of guests on food tours), we've eaten our fair share of burgers. These are the places we recommend again and again. Some are downtown favorites, while others are worth the short drive to neighboring communities.
Here are our picks for the best burgers in Colorado Springs—in no particular order.
BRAKEMAN'S SMASH'D BURGER BAR
10 S. Sierra Madre St., Colorado Springs, CO, 80903

Located inside the beautifully restored historic Old Depot train station, Brakeman's Smash'd Burger Bar has quickly become one of downtown's most popular burger destinations.
Their signature smash burgers feature premium wagyu beef smashed thin on a hot griddle for crispy edges and juicy centers. The classic comes topped with American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and their signature 1942 sauce, but you can customize your burger with additional toppings or even add a third patty if you're especially hungry.
Don't miss: The Chicken Smash'd Tenders are among our favorite chicken dishes in Colorado Springs.
ODYSSEY GASTROPUB
311 N Tejon St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903

Odyssey Gastropub is known for its globally inspired menu, but don't overlook the burgers. In fact, they serve two of our favorite burgers downtown.
The Odyssey Burger is piled high with cheddar cheese, pork green chile, and a fried egg, while the Pioneer Burger layers provolone, honey bacon, crispy onions, house burger sauce, lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles.
Fun fact: Co-owner Tyler Sherman got his start working at McDonald's when he was just 16 years old before launching one of Colorado Springs' most beloved gastropubs.
THE GREEN LINE GRILL
230 1/2 Pueblo Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903

If you ask locals where to find one of the city's best burgers, Green Line Grill almost always comes up.
Chef Bobby Couch specializes in the legendary El Reno-style Onion Fried Burger, a recipe that originated during the Dust Bowl in Oklahoma. Thinly sliced onions are smashed directly into the beef while it cooks, creating an incredibly flavorful burger with caramelized onions, local beef, green chile, pepper jack cheese, and jalapeños.
Even better, many ingredients come from fellow local businesses, including Sourdough Boulangerie, Rocky Mountain Tomatoes, and Sara's Sausage.
Bonus: Green Line Grill is one of the featured stops on our Wild West Burgers & Brews Tour, giving guests the opportunity to sample this incredible burger while learning about downtown Colorado Springs.
THE SKIRTED HEIFER
204 North Tejon St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903

A Colorado Springs institution, The Skirted Heifer has earned national recognition—including appearances on Food Network—for its signature cheese skirt.
Each burger features an extra layer of crispy cheddar that extends beyond the bun, creating a crunchy, cheesy "skirt." It's as delicious as it is memorable.
We recommend ordering The Classic Skirted Heifer, made with grass-fed beef, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, Heifer Sauce, and served on a garlic focaccia bun.
Four by Brother Luck
321 N. Tejon St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903

Chef Brother Luck has become one of Colorado Springs' most recognizable culinary figures, and Four by Brother Luck consistently delivers creative Southwestern cuisine using locally sourced ingredients.
The standout burger here is the Bacon Jam Burger, featuring a juicy beef patty topped with house-made bacon jam, cheddar cheese, herb aioli, and pickles. The sweet and savory bacon jam takes this burger to another level.
Served only during happy hour (which is Tuesday–Sunday, 3–5 p.m.), this delicious burger is as affordable as it is delicious.
Try it on a food tour! We've proudly featured Four by Brother Luck on our Original Colorado Springs Food Tour for years, and it's always a guest favorite.
Worth the Short Drive
If you're willing to venture just outside Colorado Springs, these burger destinations are absolutely worth the trip.
BORDER BURGER BAR
934 Manitou Ave., Manitou Springs, CO 80829

Located in the heart of Manitou Springs, Border Burger Bar grinds its beef fresh every day and has earned a loyal local following.
The indulgent Mac-N-Cheese Burger combines a juicy beef patty with creamy mac and cheese, crispy bacon, and roasted green chiles. It's the perfect comfort food after exploring the shops, hiking trails, or mineral springs nearby.
The Keg Lounge
730 Manitou Ave., Manitou Springs, CO 80829

Also in Manitou and family-owned for decades, The Keg Lounge is a laid-back neighborhood favorite serving hearty comfort food.
Their standout menu item is the Colorado Buffalo Burger, made with lean bison and served with lettuce, onions, and pickles. It's a flavorful way to experience one of Colorado's iconic local meats.
Don't miss: Upgrade your side to onion rings, fries, or their famous Strawberry Salad—a longtime Manitou Springs favorite.
BINGO BURGER
101 Central Plaza, Pueblo, CO 81003

If your travels take you south to Pueblo, make time for Bingo Burger.
Built around Pueblo's famous green chile tradition, Bingo Burger serves creative monthly specials alongside house-made sauces like Thai Chile Ketchup and Lemon Rosemary Aioli.
We recommend trying their rotating Burger of the Month, which showcases seasonal ingredients and inventive flavor combinations.
