Fresh bread, custom cakes, and gluten free treats — Read about the most popular bakeries in Colorado Springs!

The smell of fresh baked bread, a warm croissant, or a perfectly crumbly scone – for many, a good bakery is like a home away from home. In fact, whenever we travel, no matter where in the world we find ourselves, we always manage to spend part of our trip looking for the best bakery in town. There’s really nothing more comforting than the smells, sounds, and of course, tastes of a local bakery.

Thankfully, Colorado Springs is chock full of incredible bakeries. From custom cake shops to gluten free cafes, you’ll have no trouble finding a bakery to suit your needs!

* With COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions ever changing, we encourage you to check-in with each of the restaurants listed below for their most up-to-date information before planning your visit.

1. Nightingale Bread

Nightingale Bread is located in a defunct mid-century elementary school turned hip local hangout spot on the north end of Downtown Colorado Springs. While it’s location is a little unassuming — and you might not even know it’s there at first glance — the moment you walk through the doors, you’ll know you’re in the right place.

With fresh bread sitting behind the counter and the smell of homemade pizzas and baked goods wafting through the air, it becomes obvious — Nightingale Bread isn’t concerned in the least with being “hip” or trendy. All they care about is making really, really great bread with high-quality ingredients.

2. Coquette’s Bistro & Bakery

Just because you’re allergic to gluten doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get to eat baked goods to your heart’s content! Coquettes Bistro & Bakery was started by a mother-daughter duo who wanted to make sure those with food allergies could still enjoy eating out like the rest of us. Their menu is completely gluten free and full of incredible baked goods, along with a delicious menu of apps, entrees, and cocktails!

They recently opened a beautiful new location on the southern end of Downtown Colorado Springs, including the cutest outdoor seating area that will make all of your summertime dreams come true. Not to mention, they make one of the best cupcakes we’ve ever had – gluten or no gluten!

La Baguette provides the charm of a Parisian cafe just minutes from Downtown Colorado Springs. Located in the heart of Old Colorado City, one of Colorado Spring’s most beloved neighborhoods, this quaint cafe has been serving the local community for more than 30 years. They specialize in artisan breads and pastries — and you can’t beat their delicious French Onion Soup.

Above the bakery is the sweetest wine bar, a “casual neighborhood wine bar with upscale flair.” They serve over 70 varieties of fine wines, imported beers, and spirits.

This local bakery is passionate about partnering with other small businesses in the community through “providing fresh, wholesome baked goods.” They use quality ingredients to create goodies rooted in classic recipes, while often using unique flavors and techniques to add a special twist.

While Snowberry Bakehouse doesn’t have a traditional bakery location, you can find their goods being sold in coffee shops around town, such as Switchback Coffee and Story Coffee Company. You can also join one of their semi-hands-on workshops held locally by owner and Pastry Chef, Jen Denman.
