There are more than 20 craft breweries in the Colorado Springs area alone, and each one has their own unique drinks, offerings, entertainment, and atmosphere. With so many different choices there’s a brewery for everyone to enjoy!
Carve out your next Saturday afternoon and visit four amazing breweries in downtown Colorado Springs on a fun walking tour! The Springs Craft Brewery Tour is led by one of our expert guides and features flights at each brewery (14-16 different kinds of beer) along with food pairings. Sign up for our public tour on Saturdays, or set-up a private event for your group!
Now, on to the list! Here are seven of our favorite downtown breweries, in no particular order:
Specializing in artisan ales, Local Relic is located inside The Carter Payne, a community gathering space featuring five food and drink vendors. If you’re a foodie, this is a must-visit location! Some of the offerings inside The Carter Payne include wine, cocktails, farm-to-table cuisine, and an Instagram-worthy brunch on the weekends. Local Relic, the resident brewery, produces 200+ small-batch beers each year and never repeats the same recipe! Their beer is intensely creative and features unusual or hard-to-access ingredients. From the current menu, you could try a Fall-inspired Apple Pumpkin Belgian, a spicy Chimayo Chile Red, or a refreshing Pink Guava Witt, along with several other unique and tasty options.
Insider Tip: The best way to experience Local Relic’s beer is by ordering a flight and a four-course food pairing, which we serve on The Springs Craft Brewery Tour!
Battle Mountain Brewing Company strives to stand out from the crowd with their innovative and experimental creations. Some of their most popular offerings are their Peach Blonde Ale and Peanut Butter Stout. They recently brought back their beloved Chai Tea Blonde Ale, just in time for fall. Their mining themed taproom offers a laid-back space to spend time with your favorite people and your favorite furry friends. At Battle Mountain Brewery, dogs are welcome outside on the patio and inside the taproom! There’s also a host of fun events to enjoy throughout the week including live music, trivia nights, open mic nights, painting parties, music video bingo, and rotating food trucks.
Insider Tip: Like to be fit AND drink beer? Well, you’re in luck! Battle Mountain along with Barre Forte Colorado Springs host “Barre and Brews” right inside the brewery. Check their calendar for updates!
Welcome to the Lager House! This downtown Colorado Springs location serves up to 15 different hand-crafted ales and lagers daily. While The Lager House does serve all of the same beers you’ll find at the original Pikes Peak Brewery in Monument, they specialize in lagers such as the Tejon Mexican Lager and the Knob Hill India Pale Lager. The Lager House also has some delicious food options including charcuterie boards, sandwiches, and locally baked pretzel bites with specialty bratwurst. Make sure to check out the rooftop patio which provides stunning views of Pikes Peak.
Insider Tip: The Lager House recently opened in the newly renovated Trolley District, which originally housed the city’s trolley cars in the early 1900s. Near the back of the brewery is a passageway into COATI, a restaurant incubator, where you will find several unique food, dessert, and cocktail vendors. Visit the Lager House on The Springs Craft Brewery Tour!
Brass Brewing Company is a veteran owned and operated brewery that believes in giving back. Each year, they donate 1% of all their profits to organizations that serve veterans. The owners also believe in quality over quantity, and they take pride in the superior ingredients they use to brew their beer. Everything is brewed right in-house on a seven-barrel system. They also host fun events like “beer & bingo,” comedy night, and Trivia Wednesdays. This is a fun, low-key hangout spot where dogs, kids, and outside food are welcome! Stop by to enjoy a cold, fresh brew that’s full of flavor.
Insider Tip: Are you a veteran? Join their “Mug Club” where you will have a chance to purchase an annual commemorative ceramic mug that stays at the brewery for your next visit! Check them out on The Springs Craft Brewery Tour.
Calling themselves “the home of balanced brews,” Goat Patch brewery is all about masterful beer and community engagement. In fact, they choose two local non-profits to give back to every year. They also host a local organization every Tuesday. During “Bleating Heart Night,” $1 of every drink ordered goes directly back to the featured organization. Goat Patch is located inside the Lincoln Center, a reimagined former elementary school. There are several other vendors located inside that offer everything from fresh-baked bread to yoga! They also host a different food truck every day, and outside food is welcome.
Insider Tip: Goat Patch Brewing Company is located in the Old North End, which is just north of downtown Colorado Springs. This provides a perfect opportunity to rent an e-bike from PikeRide and enjoy the beautiful scenery of tall trees, old Victorian mansions, and the Rocky Mountains.
This downtown brewery is known for its amazing atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious craft beer made on the premises. The two owners have been friends for more than 40 years, and they describe themselves as “old motorheads.” Their goal when opening Mash Mechanix was to infuse car culture into a cool downtown locale. Mash Mechanix hosts food trucks daily (usually a different one for lunch and dinner) and they often have live music and fun events. Along with fresh beer, they also serve Rocky Mountain Pizzas and unique snack offerings such as Boozy Jerky.
Insider Tip: Not a huge beer fan? Try their amazing line-up of hard seltzers including delicious flavors like mango, pomegranate, and coconut. Oh, and don’t worry about parking when you visit Mash Mechanix – they have their own parking lot! This brewery often makes an appearance on The Springs Craft Brewery Tour.
Inspired by their own red swing that hung from their 50-year-old maple tree, Red Swing Brewhouse is all about family and community. They try to recreate that same familiar atmosphere for their customers with their modern farmhouse vibe. There’s trivia every Tuesday, a fire pit on the back patio, and dog bowls with free dog treats for their four-legged customers. Red Swing offers indoor seating and heated outdoor seating. The Joint, a food truck that serves delicious vegan street food, is parked outside most days. Some customer favorite drinks here are the Raspberry Wheat, the Unity Oatmeal Vanilla Stout, and the Devil Went Down to Pueblo (a chili wheat beer).
Insider Tip: Love soccer? Head to Red Swing to watch the next Switchbacks FC game! Visit Red Swing on The Springs Craft Brewery Tour.
With so many fantastic brewery options around Colorado Springs, it can be hard to choose which ones to visit. Luckily, Rocky Mountain Food Tours (that’s us!) is here to help!
