Rocky Mountain Food Tours

Fireworks, concerts, festivals and more — If you’re spending this 4th of July 2023 in Colorado Springs, you’ll have no trouble finding fun activities for your whole family to enjoy!

Grab the family, pack some sunscreen, and don your red, white, and blue apparel for an amazing 4th of July in Colorado! We’ve put together a list of 10 things to do in Colorado Springs and the surrounding towns to celebrate America’s independence.

1. Star Spangled Symphony and 4th of July Block Party in Downtown Colorado Springs

Tuesday, July 4 at 4:30pm

The Colorado Springs Philharmonic and the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation are teaming up to bring a massive celebration to downtown Colorado Springs. The symphony concert, which will start at 4:30pm and take place inside the Pikes Peak Center, will play patriotic songs including 1812 OvertureAmerica the Beautiful, Olympic Fanfares, and more. The block party will feature art and food vendors, a beer garden, and a broadcast of the concert for all to hear outside. Though this event is free to attend, registration is required.

Tip: Would you like to tune in from your radio at home? The concert will also be broadcast on the following radio stations: KCME 88.7 FM, Y 96.9, KVOR 740 AM, PEAK 92.9, and Sunny 106.3.

2. Classic Food and Drink Tour in Downtown Colorado Springs

Tuesday, July 4 at 12:00pm

What better way to celebrate the 4th of July than by eating delicious food, craft beer, and cocktails? Try the flagship food tour of Rocky Mountain Food Tours (that’s us!) and get a taste of Colorado Springs’ best food and drinks while learning about the city’s rich history from one of our expert tour guides. Tours run everyday except Monday during the summer season.

3. Historic “Family Fourth” at Rock Ledge Ranch

Tuesday, July 4 from 10:00am-5:00pm

History literally comes alive at Rock Ledge Ranch in Colorado Springs! This outdoor museum celebrates the life and traditions of early settlers. Their docents even dress in period-appropriate clothing! Bring the whole family to the ranch for carnival games, patriotic music, old-fashioned food and snacks, historical reenactments, and other festivities. Tickets can be purchased here.

4. Fireworks Throughout the City

There are several fireworks displays planned throughout Colorado Springs, some of which can even be enjoyed from your own porch. For a list of all of the shows as well as parking options, head to this website.

5. Switchbacks FC vs. Monterey Bay FC

Tuesday, July 4 at 7:00pm

The Colorado Springs’ Switchbacks FC, our professional soccer team, are playing Monterey Bay FC at Weidner Field for a special 4th of July game, ending in a spectacular fireworks show. A fun event for the whole family! Purchase tickets here.

6. Red Leg Brewing 10th Anniversary and 4th of July Party

Tuesday, July 4 at 11:00am

Head to Red Leg Brewing for an all-day, family-friendly celebration! Listen to live music, drink beer, get a henna tattoo, and play games. Let your competitive side come out with old-fashioned contests including a grain sack race and a pie eating competition. This event is free to attend but you will need to purchase beer tickets either in advance or the day of the event. Find more information on their event page.

7. The Tri-Lakes 4th of July Street Fair and Beer Garden

Tuesday, July 4 – all day

Head to Monument, just north of Colorado Springs, for a full day of family-friendly festivities. Start the day with a pancake breakfast before going a fun run starting at the Palmer Lake Santa Fe Trailhead. After a festive parade, you’ll find a street fair filled with a variety of vendors, a beer garden, and music performances in the park. Click here for more information.

8. Castle Rock “Rock-It Run”

Tuesday, July 4 at 6:30am and 8:30am

A local brewery is hosting the 3rd annual Rock-It Run in Castle Rock, which will feature a half marathon, 5K, and 1K “Little” run for children eight and under. Proceeds from the race benefit veterans, first-responders, and others who suffer from PTSD and other mental illness. At the end of the race, enjoy a free concert featuring the band Twenty Hands High at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Sign up here!

9. Gold Camp 4th in Cripple Creek

Tuesday, July 4 starting at 12:00pm 

Head to the historic district of Cripple Creek for a full day of music, food, beer, vendors, and other attractions. Hear from a patriotic speaker, ring the bell for freedom, and receive a copy of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. After the festivities, enjoy the town’s fireworks display, which will start after 9:00pm. Find out more about the event here.

10. Woodland Park “Old Fashioned” 4th of July Celebration

Tuesday, July 4 from 9:00am-3:00pm

Head west to join in Woodland Park’s largest family event of the year! From fossil digging to magic shows to live music, there is something for every member of the family to enjoy. Try your luck at the fishing derby, basketball tournament, or watermelon-eating contest. Find out more about this whirlwind celebration here.
