Girls' Weekend Getaway In Colorado Springs

Follow this two-day itinerary for an amazing time with your gal pals in Colorado Springs!

Because of its central location, Colorado is the perfect location for a quick trip to get away and have a little fun. Colorado Springs is known for offering incredible outdoor activities due to its location at the base of Pikes Peak, but there are plenty more things to do from culinary experiences to state-of-the-art museums.

We’ve put together a two-day girls’ weekend itinerary featuring what we feel like are some of Colorado Springs’ best attractions and activities while allotting time for a little relaxation and pampering, too.

So, grab your girlfriends and get ready for a choose-your-own adventure weekend in Colorado Springs, the perfect destination to have fun, enjoy the mountain air, and try some fantastic cuisine!

Day 1

Morning – Ascend to New Heights at the Top of Pikes Peak

Length of activity: 3 hours

Pikes Peak is known as “America’s Mountain,” and you and your girlfriends will find out why when you ascend to the top via the newly renovated Pikes Peak Cog Railway. The train ride takes about three hours roundtrip, including 40 minutes at the summit.  In addition to the brand new visitor’s center, you’ll enjoy panoramas of Colorado Springs and the Rocky Mountain Front Range, the same view that inspired Katherine Lee Bates to write “America the Beautiful.” Finally, make sure to get a high-altitude fried donut – it’s tradition!

Tip: We’ve written more about Pikes Peak including five different ways to reach the summit!

Afternoon – Toast to New Adventures on a Food Tour in Downtown Colorado Springs

Length of activity: 3 hours

Surly, there will be at least one foodie on your group, and so a food tour in Downtown Colorado Springs with Rocky Mountain Food Tours is a must! Choose from three different tours including “The Original,” a signature cocktail tour, or a craft brewery tour. All tours features four to five locations and lots of delicious food and drink. Plus, since these are walking tours, you’ll learn the history of the city, visit a few monuments, and see some local art along the way!

Tip: Tickets do sell-out in advance, so purchase your tickets with ample time in order to accommodate your entire group! Tours accommodate up 12 guests.

Evening – Cheer on the Home Team in the Brand New Downtown Stadium

Length of activity: 2.5 hours

After your food tour and while you’re still in downtown Colorado Springs, head to the brand new stadium to catch a Switchbacks FC professional soccer game. In this intimate arena, there are no bad seats, and you’ll have a blast cheering on the home team from below the nighttime lights of downtown. On nights when the team isn’t playing, you’ll find other events at Weidner Field including festivals and outdoor concerts.

Late Evening – Dance the Night Away at a Colorado Springs’ Most Popular Country Western Bar

Length of activity: However long you want, but last call is at 1:30am!

Get ‘yer cowboy boots for a fun night on the town at one of Colorado Springs’ most popular Country Western bars, Cowboys Night Club. Located in the heart of Downtown Colorado Springs, this bar features karaoke, bull riding, pool, and of course…dancing! Don’t miss out on trying one of Colorado’s famous foods found on their menu, Rocky Mountain Oysters (just to say you did it!).

Day 2

Morning – Breath the Crisp Morning Air on a Serene Mountain Hike

Length of activity: However long you want, but we suggest at least one-three hours

Rejuvenate your spirit by taking a hike on one of the breathtaking trails surrounding Colorado Springs. No matter your athletic ability, you and your gals will find a path that reintroduces you to nature and makes you feel refreshed. Top on your list should be one of most beautiful attractions, Garden of the Gods, but you can also try Palmer Park, Cheyenne Canyon, Red Rock Canyon, or Mt. Herman for easy to moderate routes. If you’re feeling particularly spry, we recommend the famous Manitou Incline, which is a mile-long stair-step climb along the route of the original Cog Railway.

Tip: If rock climbing is your thing, Garden of the Gods and Red Rock Canyon offer some awesome routes with stunning views from the top. Make sure you read the regulations beforehand, and it might be worth looking into a guide service such as Front Range Climbing Company. Also, our best advice we can give for avoiding altitude sickness is to drink plenty of water!

Afternoon – Option 1: Get Pampered

Length of activity: 2-3 hours

Time to get pampered! After your hike, make spa appointments at the luxurious Garden of the Gods Club and Resort. Arguably having the most picturesque view of Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods in all of Colorado Springs, the Garden of the Gods Club is an ideal place to unwind and reflect. Book a message, body wrap, facial, vitamin therapy, manicure or pedicure. Plus, included in your spa visit is access to their steam room, indoor Jacuzzi, fitness center, and outdoor heated pool.

Afternoon – Option 2: Visit The Newest Museum in Colorado Springs

Length of activity: 2-3 hours

Visit the newest museum in downtown Colorado Springs, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Museum. This state-of-the art attraction brings the Olympics to life with stories from the athletes, sporting gear, and immersive video exhibits. You can also “compete” against Olympic champions in simulated games including sprinting, archery, rowing and more. You’ll have a blast reliving childhood memories of rooting for your favorite athletes over the years!

Evening – Fall in Love with Colorado Springs

Length of activity: 1-2 hours

Visit the only waterfall in Colorado that made National Geographic’s list of international wonders, Seven Falls. Soak up the landscape as you drive through the “Grandest Mile of Scenery” before stopping at the base of the falls, which cascade down the canyon in seven distinct sections. Take the 224-step trek to get closer and continue your hike through the area. The falls are lit up at night, which makes this site even more spectacular.

Tip: There is an entrance fee to see the falls; however, parking is free in the east lot at the Broadmoor Hotel.

Evening – Toast to Your Friendship and a Great Weekend in Colorado Springs

Length of activity: 2 hours

Women Toasting in Colorado Springs

You’ve had an amazing two day in Colorado Springs, and what better send off than a cocktail with your friends at one of Colorado Springs’ speakeasies. We recommend Brooklyn’s on Boulder for a true prohibition-style experience. You even enter in throw a door with an eye slat! Just down the block is District Elleven, another moody speakeasy with vintage art and an innovative cocktail menu.

Tip: If you really want to explore the cocktail scene in Colorado Springs, check out The Springs Signature Cocktail Tour, which visits both of the locations mentioned above!

Have fun!

Convincing your girlfriends to make Colorado Springs their next weekend getaway destination will be easy once they know everything this town has to offer. Now that your itinerary is planned, all you need to do is pick the weekend!

Cheers to you and your girlfriends, The Rocky Mountain Food Tours Team
